Mikael Åkerlind debuts a new series today on the Concepts Showcase. He writes:

The WHA Edition Jerseys is a collection of uniforms designed for 12 NHL teams to honor the teams of the WHA’s inaugural season 1972-73. Each jersey is remixed with the crest of the NHL team connecting to the WHA team by origin, team name or location.

In the first installment, he morphs the Colorado Avalanche into the Quebec Nordiques. Not a big stretch, of course. On the other side, the New York Islanders become the New York Raiders. The teams conveniently share a color scheme and both began play in 1972.
