We have a newcomer! Jake Tucker makes his debut on the Concepts Showcase with a new take on the AHL’s Springfield Thunderbirds. He writes:
When redesigning the logo and uniforms, I wanted to take elements from Springfield’s past, as well as design elements from their NHL affiliate, the St. Louis Blues. Their logo takes the shape of the old Springfield Falcons, while the striping on their white uniform calls back to the Blues’ ’90s era. Included as well is a Reverse Retro idea taking inspiration from the Springfield Indians.
It’s a gorgeous design that is feeling very meta to me right now. This concept was inspired by a team identity created by a designer (Matt McElroy) who got the job because of concept art he originally had published to Icethetics. Is that full circle or what?
