Jackson Bayer delivers a fresh yet familiar look for the Washington Capitals today. He writes:
Simply put, the Washington Capitals is the NHL team that’s most in need of a branding overhaul. While unique at the time, the staying power of their Reebok Edge-era uniforms is buoyed only by the stars that have worn them.
For the primary set, I retain navy blue, mixing it with the inaugural uniforms that were resurrected as alternates with great fanfare in the early part of the 2010s. The width of the striping and three stars are a direct reference to the flag of the District of Columbia. My favorite part of the set, the first alternate jersey, finally gives the Capitals a blue version of their classic design. The second alternate serves as a white counterpart to the Capitals’ Reverse Retro 2.0, presenting the screaming eagle and diagonal striping in a sleek yet dignified manner.
